About TAWIMA and ELIYA
Eliya stands as a co-founder of the Tanzania Wildlife Media Association (TaWiMa), a pioneering initiative fostering wildlife conservation through media. TaWiMa spearheads wildlife photography internships, visual storytelling workshops, and community campaigns, aiming to elevate Tanzanian creativity while advocating for nature's preservation. Presently, TaWiMa conducts its internships in collaboration with Nomad Tanzania, a prominent tourist company dedicated to nurturing talents and empowering youth through conservation storytelling mentorship programs.
Eliya's vision, along with TaWiMa's mission, embodies a commitment to both wildlife preservation and the empowerment of Tanzanian youth. By offering platforms for artistic expression and professional development, they amplify the voices of local communities in advocating for environmental sustainability. Through partnerships like the one with Nomad Tanzania, they leverage tourism's potential to promote conservation efforts and cultivate a generation of storytellers dedicated to safeguarding Tanzania's natural heritage. Eliya's leadership underscores the importance of collaborative initiatives in addressing conservation challenges while nurturing local talent and fostering a sense of stewardship towards the country's rich biodiversity.
